  CHILDREN'S ENGLISH POETRY

My second year of high school
I heard my first English word,
It sounded light and pleasing. Not nasal like the French!
Our Teacher cited children's rhyme to make us learn the sounds with ease. Here is one that I remember after seventy some years: If you please:

“There was a little girl, and she had a little
Curl in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good, she was very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.”
