  AN EVENING IN NEW YORK

When we were young
We drove for miles to see
The new year arrive... Looking up
Waiting for the ball to fall.
We did not even mind
If a stranger pinched our behind

We loved to dance a lot
We found a place called Roseland
Where we could enjoy the famous Bands
The Dorsey Brothers, Benny Goodman
And so many others.

New York is a town that never sleeps
It offers endless varieties of entertainment
Vienna where I come from
Rolls up the sidewalks at 9.00 PM
You have nowhere to go but home.

If you crave special food
Of any kind, I can assure you that
You will find Chinese Italian Greek
Austro-Hungarian German Indian
Just seek and enjoy.

There are lots of theaters to choose from
Big and small. Its simply impossible to do it
All in one night. Stop, relax and look around
At the big buildings all lit up in beautiful colors
From steeple to ground.

It makes me tired just to think
How many new impressions I gathered
Without taking a drink
So let’s call it a night. Let’s make a new plan
When we can go to town again.
