  A HAPPY FAMILY

A  happy  family, I see
Can only exist in a writer’s fantasy.
A loving kind man who marries a clever wife,
Could possibly be happy for the rest of his life.

Children, on the other hand are difficult,
Hard to understand, need loving without end.
They will not share their books, or toys,
Whether they be girls or boys.

If they don’t catch their parents ears,
There will be jealousy, fighting and tears.
They need to be taught to respect and obey,
Get on with their studies, and then they may play.

As the children grow up, real troubles begin,
Who makes more money, gets fat, stays thin.
The original closeness dwindles away,
The new inlaws lead them astray.

If a relative dies and a will is read,
Nobody is pleased.
All the heirs hate one another,
And blame the thoughtless deceased.

The happy family is
A thing of the past.
It was started with love,
But it could not last.
